Plan for A Great Year

Welcome to a new year at Washington School.   The entire staff and I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new and returning families.  The summer has been busy for our school.  The classrooms have been cleaned and everything is ready for the new year.  Our playground is looking great with the new field and playing surface for children.  Join us on September 25th for a Family Night full of food, fitness and fun times as we cut the ribbon and inaugurate our new field.

Take time now and help your student plan for a successful year.

1.     Find time to review homework together every night.  Children have homework every day designed to support what is being learned in the classroom.  Take time to review your child’s homework and make sure they understand what is being taught in the classroom.  Let your child’s teacher know if your child is struggling with homework.

2.     Read parent notices and letters that come home in your child’s backpack.    We work hard to keep you informed of activities at the school.   This year we are creating an e-mail data base so you can receive weekly e-mails about Washington School.   We want you to become involved with your child’s education because we know involved families have students who do better in school.

3.     Let the school know if there are any problems or concerns.   We are here to help and support you.  There are two scheduled parent/teacher conferences during the year but we invite you to sit down and talk with us anytime you need our help.

4.     Make a difference.  You are the most important person in your child’s life and we want you to become involved at Washington School.  Join the PTA, volunteer in a classroom, or help out at any of the many special school activities.

Washington School is “Reaching for Greatness” this year and we invite you to become part of our community.
