¡Hola! Mi nombre es Gustavo Guerra y soy el nuevo maestro de primer grado del programa doble inmersión en la escuela Washington. Aunque soy nuevo en el distrito, llevo 18 años enseñando. Enseñé en Chicago durante 17 años e Inglewood por un. Nací en Quito, Ecuador. Mi padre es de Ecuador y mi madre de Argentina. Como un niño de cinco años aprendiendo un segundo idioma y Nuevo residente en los Estados Unidos, mi madre me colocó en la primera escuela de dos idiomas en Chicago y desde entonces he estado muy agradecido. Mi escuela primaria me enseñó a aceptar y celebrar la diversidad en nuestra comunidad global y la fortaleza del bilingüismo.
Como graduado de una escuela de dos idiomas que produjo estudiantes bilingües y biliteros, tengo una conexión personal y amor para los programas de doble inmersión. También estoy muy emocionado de comenzar el año escolar en el programa DI de alta calidad en Washington. Asistí a la Universidad de Illinois-Chicago, donde recibí mi licenciatura y maestría. Como maestro en las Escuelas Públicas de Chicago, he enseñado a muchos estudiantes diversos desde jardín de infantes hasta octavo grado y me especialicé en la adquisición de un segundo idioma. Estoy casado y tengo 4 hijos y ahora vivo en la hermosa bahía sur, donde disfruto tocando la guitarra, hacer caminatas y jugar el fútbol.

Hello! My name is Gustavo Guerra and I am the new 1st grade dual immersion teacher at Washington Elementary. Although I am new to the district, I have been teaching for 18 years. I taught in Chicago for 17 years and Inglewood for one. I was born in Quito, Ecuador. My father is from Ecuador and my mother from Argentina. As a five year old second language learner and new resident to the United States, my mother placed me in the first dual language school in Chicago and I have been thankful to her ever since. My elementary school taught me to embrace and celebrate the diversity in our global community and the strength in bilingualism. As a graduate of a dual language school that produced bilingual and biliterate students, I have a personal connection and love for dual immersion programs. I am also very excited to begin the school year in the high quality DI program at Washington.
I attended the University of Illinois-Chicago where I received my bachelors and masters degrees. As a teacher in the Chicago Public Schools, I have taught many diverse students from Kindergarten to 8th grade and I specialized in second language acquisition. I am married with 4 children and now reside in the beautiful south bay where I enjoy playing soccer, guitar, and hiking.
