Washington Explorers are ready to dream big, persevere, and achieve greatness together!
Meet the Principal
Welcome back, Explorers! I am honored and delighted to be the new principal of Washington Elementary School. I am so excited to be a part of a school community where students are valued and parents take an active role in their child’s education.
I was born in Pennsylvania and before the start of kindergarten my family moved to California. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, therefore, after high school I attended California State University, Northridge where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies. I began my teaching career in a private school and attended Pepperdine University, where I earned my Master of Arts in Education and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
Two years later, I made the move to Lawndale School District where I taught for the last 19 years. While teaching full time, I held several leadership roles and was a member of numerous district wide committees. I initiated wellness programs at my school site and in 2011, I was nominated by my colleagues and was selected as the California Gold Medalist Teacher of the Year by the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, as well as, Champion Educator of the Year from the Network for a Healthier California. In 2013, I earned my Master of Science in Administration and Administrative Credential from Pepperdine University where I graduated with honors.
In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, golf, traveling, and taking my dog, Sandi, to the dog beach.
Once again, I am privileged to join the Washington School Community and Team RBUSD! I look forward to meeting ALL of my Washington families during the 2014-2015 school year.
The Redondo Beach Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which in partnership with individuals, community businesses and corporations, seeks to provide the additional funding and resources needed to enhance the educational experience of all RBUSD children. Your donations are fully tax deductible and EVERY dollar goes back to the District to support RBUSD programs.
