We want all you master builders and robot experts as well as anyone who wants to be part of a winning team to sign up for the league! Your team will learn the skills needed to build robots and compete with other schools while learning, math, engineering, programming, planning and problem solving using Lego’s Robotic Mindstorms sets. You can find more information about the league and their core values at www.legoexplorers.com

You can pick up an application in the front office. All applications are due by Wednesday, June 17.

Sharefest was a Huge Success

American Heart Association Recognizes Washington Elementary

Nancy Brown, American Heart Association CEO recognized Washington Elementary in her weekly newsletter:

I want to thank everyone at Washington Elementary School in Redondo Beach, California, for their incredible support of Jump Rope For Heart. This January's JRFH event raised $18,578, all the way up from $1,526 last year ... what a remarkable climb! They started off this year by setting an ambitious goal of $5,000, and Principal Kristen Holm encouraged students by sharing the updated total of donations raised each day. A big part of their strategy focused on the funds needed to train people in CPR. Following up on January's successful event, Washington Elementary is now working with AHA volunteers and staff to organize a CPR training night for parents later this year. Congratulations to Principal Holm and the entire Washington Elementary School community for their extraordinary efforts on our behalf!

Way to Go, Explorers!

Congratulations to Washington's 4th/5th grade Battle of the Books Team. It was the first time Washington Elementary participated in the district-wide competition. We are so proud of Caelia Vallejo, Bradley Yamamoto, Nikhil Patel, Thomas Eapen, and Will Keehan! Way to Go Explorers!
